Woodburning stoves are great for if you only want to burn wood, for example if you have a log store and have access to a lot of wood, but aren’t suitable for coals which allow you to keep the fire burning for hours without refuelling. Or if you don’t intend on using the stove as your main source of heating your home and it’s just for short bursts of heat.

- Here is the inside of a woodburning stove
- No ashpan, no grate
- This is because wood creates less ash than coals and doesn’t need air underneath it to burn efficiently
- You should clean this out every few weeks or so, depending on how much wood you burn
